#canningandpreserving

The time my mother spent peeling and taking cores out of apples was money saved. She made quart jars of apple jelly that never left our cupboards. Those quart jars of jelly sat right beside the biggest peanut butter jar she could buy. My brothers went through a quart or two of jelly a week! She also made a wonderful crab apple jelly, but she hid that from us because it was dad’s favorite!
When I was a little girl, my grandmother and her sister dehydrated apple slices on old window screens on top of hot car hoods. They put the apples inside clean pillowcases, and places them in single layers between two window screens to keep bugs away. If the day was ot and windy, it really didn’t take long in western Kentucky for the fruit to dry.
You could also use orange juice or pineapple juice to spray your apples to prevent them from oxidizing
Maybe use Agave???
I was just watching the part for apple sauce. What type of canner are you using for that? Thank you.
